So Long, Farewell

Like a whirlwind this year has come and gone and I cannot believe it is already time to bid farewell. I do hate goodbyes. I cannot express the overwhelming love and grace that fills my heart. The words that I feel, wishing to convey…seem indescribable or far too rare. Nevertheless I can try.

This year as Miss Orem has been all encompassing as this title has stretched me beyond expectation. I have accomplished what I would have never aspired to before. Miss Orem has caused me to live out of the norm, being an example and has challenged me to become. Through this refining I have come to better know of myself and develop into a strong and more confident young woman.

With deepest appreciation I want to thank those who saw this potential within me to grow.

I would not have matured and taken on the responsibilities needed without their hand to guide me.

These individuals lighted a spark within me, initiating an inner drive that now pushes me on.

My eyes have opened to the realization that one person can make a difference. Serving has filled my life with adventure and I have learned that service is not an act but a habit.

Last night proved unforgettable. It was the book end to an amazing year.. I was able to be behind the scenes and the ultimate hostess for the night as I was able to co-MC with Maddi and my dear friend Rick Meeves.

One of my highlights from the night lied where Me, Rick, my little Miss Kendal danced together. There was even a tender special moment as my father took the stage and I got to dance with my very own papa :)

It is a cherished memory and I am so thankful I had this night and opportunity to reflect on all that I have done and thank the people who have helped me along the way.

I am so proud of the new Miss Orem, Sydney Flangian. Her being a part of my royalty, I know that I am leaving the city in good hands. She is so beautiful and driven, I can only expect great things to come!

My heart swells at the thought of the connections I have made, new friendships and cherished memories.
I would have never discovered all of what Orem City holds without these opportunities. I cannot express the immense gratitude I feel. While I close this chapter of my life I feel that I am on the path towards new adventure. I guess then it’s not Goodbye… Just See you Later!

Looking Forward

This new year has sprung a chance to look forward with excitement towards the future. The tides are rising in my life and in my last month of Miss Orem, new adventures are on the horizon. I simply cant wait to see what is in store for me!

But in this excitement for the future, it causes me to look back and see the how far I've come. In retrospect, I have maintained such a busy life style in trying to balance Miss Orem, School at BYU, and Work at The Pointe Dance Studio that I have had little time for much else.

Trying to balance everything comes with its learning curves. After a ribbon Cutting one day, I went to my car to find this! A Warning ticket, reminding me of the parking regulations within the city. It was a a loving reminder that even Miss Orem needs to adhear to the laws of the city :)

And yet, with this busy schedule, I wouldn't have it any other way! I love to be filled with the pleasures these duties fill me with everyday.

And with that... I wanted to give you a glimpse of my life these past few months as I prepare and Plan for the Future:

First off, i had the amazing opportunity to travel to Las Vegas, Nevada and attend the Miss America Pageant!

Oh what a blast it was... Being able to see the wonder of a national pageant helped me gain insight and inspirations for my own preparations for Miss Utah.

I am so happy that my mother came with me! Being new to the pageant world, it was comforting to be experiencing and taking it all in together.

It definitely made for an amazing weekend with my mother, and director Kim by my side.

And I will never forget the memories made and the new Friendships gained...

With all the fun I was having, it was a well needed break. Because since that weekend I have been in full stride!
One of my greatest tasks, and accomplishments was that of completing my Miss Utah Registration Paperwork. With checklist of over twenty things to complete, I could not procrastinate. Needless to say, this picture, where I sealed the envelope, was a happy day.

Speaking of Miss Utah, Just this last march we had our Spring Workshop! My Sister, Jill, was visiting from Texas and was able to help me get my curls on to get ready for the big day.
Here with my director Kim, the day was filled with turning in paperwork, filming for the pageant, talking with the girls, and discussing pageant details which seem just around the corner.

But look who I found during the day? My dear friend Titus was Catering the event... How did he know how much I love food?
Meanwhile, I have stayed involved with helping of the cause in Children's Literacy. Teaming up with United Way's Every Day Learner I have helped in gathering and sorting donations and being able to travel amongst the schools of Orem and Provo and help with distribution.

My Truck who I call Titus kept a full load for quite a few weeks!

Life is an adventure, and from my time as Miss Orem I have learned that time is what you make of it. In making time, you create time and though I have many responsibilities, it seems like my days stretch and I can find time to accomplish all I need to get done within each day.

I simply cant wait for the new adventures to come :)
